Hi folks:
I'm new to the world of semi-pro football and this message board. I have a few questions that I was hoping folks here could maybe answer.
So without further adieu:
1. How hard is it to recruit players in a midsize city like Mobile, Alabama for a pay-to-play team?
2. How hard is it to recruit coaches for a semi-pro team?
3. Do coaches typically get paid?
4. How many coaches does the typical team require?
5. How much does a suitable stadium cost to rent?
6. How many referees does a game require? Five? And do you have to pay them?
7. What about a chain crew? Does semi-pro ball typically employ a standard chain crew?
8. Can a city support more than one team?
Well, I think that's all for now! Thanks in advance.

1. How hard is it to recruit players in a midsize city like Mobile, Alabama for a pay-to-play team? Pay to Play will kill any team after a year or to. Teams have tried this before and end up folding up and creating nothing but a bad name for themselves2. How hard is it to recruit coaches for a semi-pro team? harder than what you would think...Most coaches dont want to argue with SUPER STARS and would rather coach Pop Warner than deal with attitude3. Do coaches typically get paid? again...at this level most of us do this for the love of the game...if there would be compensation, then I would hope that the team is doing well and has a great following4. How many coaches does the typical team require? I have been on the sidelines with as little as 2 and the most I have coached against is 7. I would say that it would be great to have at least 35. How much does a suitable stadium cost to rent? you can spend as little as $300 up to thousands...just depends on what actually is required at the stadium...lights, security, insurance..ect...ect.6. How many referees does a game require? Five? And do you have to pay them? Our leagure requires 6 and most leagues pay between $75-$125 per Official7. What about a chain crew? Does semi-pro ball typically employ a standard chain crew? we normally have a regular crew that we give $208. Can a city support more than one team? depends on the city but I have seen alot of cities with watered down teamsRead more: semipro.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=generalinfo&action=display&thread=6822#ixzz1GhCPSqi6

Uniforms alone can easily run $4,000-$5,000 (or more). Then throw in a stadium for, say, $1,000 a game. If you play six home games, that's $6,000. Then if you pay a crew of five officials $100 apiece, that's $3,000. Right there that's $13,000 or more. You'd have to be independently wealthy to own a team. Just about every team/league I've read about is pay-to-play, and many of them have been around a long time...so how do you reconcile that?

Sorry..... I took it the wrong way....meaning Paying the Players to play Most teams I know ask between $150-$200 to play....and I totally agree with that. I know of teams that have tried playing players and those teams dont last a year Not to say that this one wont make it...but here is a recent post semipro.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tryout&action=display&thread=6577
