i joined a semi pro team here in texas and after shelling out the money for the player fee and 200$ in home and away jerseys and pants, we were all told that the jerseys have to be given back at the end of the season. wtf, is this right. i was specifically told the player fee is only 50$ and then 200$ for uniforms.

Since the early ‘90’s I’ve played/coached football. I respect the semi-pro level due to everyone involved loves the game. Where else can you find coaches volunteering and players paying to play? All across this nation you’ll find people doing this from all walks of life. Many are blue collar workers struggling to make ends meet and others are doctors and lawyers. It’s quite the variance of individuals.
Over the years semi-pro has moved indoors. Semi-pro is not a financial investment for owners. They must love the game.
Now granted you’ll have a few people who make promises and take money only to leave a community of football players, fans and local businesses disheartened . It’s up to you to determine who’s good or bad. Remember, if it sounds to good to be true ...
This post is just an observance to help people out there play football.
The following is for team/league owners: * Why are you starting the team/league? - If it’s to be the “developmental league” for the NFL forget it. They don’t need you. - If you’re starting your team/league because you were pissed at the last one you were with it’s not a good reason. - If you’re in it for the money you’ll only last a season or less while ruining others chances. - As a team owner be cautious what league you join. Very important.
Any contemplating team owner should contact and ask questions to long standing national teams such as the Central Penn Piranha, Racine Raiders, Brooklyn Seminoles and others for advice.
The following is for players: * Why do want to play semi-pro football? - Want to impress the ladies? Forget it … not going to play forever. Find a lady who loves you for you. - Want a championship ring? Be a team player. - No semi-pro team or league can make a promise you’ll move up to the next level. That's up to you. - If you sign a contract make sure you get your uniform if you paid for it. Remember you’ll only get what you signed for. So will the team and league.
There’s so much more that can be said. But overall remember that it’s a game. A game loved by millions.
Yours in football, Coach Z www.coachz.us
