The 2008 Cleveland Cardinals will be holding try outs for players sometime near the end of February. For those who havent been keeping up on current events in the Cleveland area, here is a quick update:
It has been a busy off season which will no doubtedly pay off for the Cards in 08! The first big move came about by luck. The Cleveland Lions, a powerhouse every year, folded, leaving a team full of experience and talent with no place to call home. The owners of the Cards took full advantage of this situation. Their first move was to immediately hire Coach David Permuter as their new head man. "Coach Perl", as his players know him, has coached at the high school,, semi-pro, and the division 1 collegiate level. His overall record as a head coach and/or offensive coordinator is 23 - 5. He spent last year with the Lions, and gained those players trust in just one years' time. Although the folding split alot of the coaching staff of the Lions up, as of mid-January, it is looking like almost 90% of the Lions players have followed Coach Perl to the Cardinals, who is looking to add to his already stellar .821 winning percentage.
The returning Cardinals players are also a very solid group. Their main issue the past few years has been depth and coaching. With the merging of these 2 clubs, along with a new head coach, staff, and ATTITUDE, the 2008 Cleveland Cardinals should be a serious threat to NAFL teams this season.
Anyone SERIOUS about playing and WINNING is welcome to contact Coach Perl for more info about the Cardinals this season. His E Mail is: Heismanperl@yahoo.com
Coach Perl is also still in the process of interviewing coaches. Experience is prefered, but not a must. The only requirement is absolute committment. He can be contacted at that same e mail address listed above.
Good luck to everyone this season!
