Can Women Play Competitive Full On Tackle Football?
Got Next TV is poised to be the first media platform to broadcast women
football to a global television audience. The partnership with the Women's
Premier Football League will offer women exposure and opportunity.
ATLANTA - Feb. 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Got Next TV is proud to announce a broadcast
agreement wit he Women’s Premier Football League (WPFL), which will provide increased
exposure for their inaugural seasons. With six teams in two divisions, the WPFL will provide
opportunities for women across much of Texas and New Mexico.
"The partnership between Got Next TV and WPFL gives us an opportunity to keep our goals
intact and take the league national,” says WPFL President Anthoni Garcia, “ and also create
opportunities for the women's football players in general. Having this partnership to put real
women's football on TV, shows that women can play football just like men, and again it helps
take women's football to a whole new level."
Got Next TV’s broadcast capabilities will afford the league with the ability to broadcast to a
national and international television audience. The league itself will field teams in such cities
as Corpus Christie, Houston and Clovis, New Mexico. In addition, the broadcast agreement
with Got Next TV will allow owners to have more of a voice in the actual production and
packaging of the broadcasts, so the team is branded the way owners feel is best for their
business model, as opposed to a “one size fits all” approach taken by so many other
developmental football leagues.
This agreement, according to the league, will allow women to explore opportunities in the
world of professional football, traditionally a male dominated sport. While several women’s
leagues do exist, it is the WPFL’s broadcast agreement with Got Next TV, which the league
says will set it apart, as games will be available for broadcast on television 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. The league itself will be focused on showcasing the talent of women who
enjoy playing on the gridiron.
