The Dane County Football Club is formed to Provide Minor League Football in Dane County
Cottage Grove, WI, September 8, 2008: There is a new Organization in the Madison area, the Dane County Football Club.
The DCFC is the organization that will field an Adult Minor League Football team in Madison for the 2009 season.
They also will adopt or form a youth team that will participate in the American Youth Football Association, or the NFL Youth Football Organization, beginning 2010 or 2011.
The Dane County Football Club will be holding an organizational meeting at the Truex-Longmire VFW Club on County Road CV just north of the Dane County Regional Airport, September 21, 2008 at 2 P.M.
The Founding Members are Jim Foerster, former Offensive Coordinator for the Summit Stampeders of the Wisconsin State Football League, and Todd Dillinder, Owner of the Stateline Hawks, formally of the Wisconsin State Football League. Both Founders have years of experience coaching in youth football programs in Monona Grove and Beloit.
“I feel the Dane county area is full of talent and could build a team that has great potential not only in winning but building a long term successful program in which we can promote football to our area youth as much as soccer has done over the last few years.” Said Jim Foerster.
Jim continued,” Soccer has surpassed a tradition in which I hold to my heart dearly. And that is on cool brisk fall Friday afternoon rushing home from school or work to get the chores done. Then we’d load everyone into the car and drive to the local high school for the big game Friday nights under the lights. Were we got to see our hometown local hero’s playing and giving it their best? And that’s what I would like to get football back to when a family can go out and afford a game, have a couple of dogs and popcorn and enjoy the game. I would love to try and get that feeling back again on Fridays and Saturdays with the local high school and the new minor league team.”
Jim carried on,” I want this team we are building along with the league to be the class act of Minor League ball. I want to have the different types of Half-time shows that can show case our local talent, recognize the youth football, high school football programs. I want the community to also benefit from our program be it the Veterans, Schools, Parks, or other foundations already out their. I want the men to be able to continue to do what they love.”
Todd Dillinder added, “From the beginning I wanted to help create a real team of the community, for the community.”
“With the Stateline Hawks I was owner and tried to somewhat duplicate what Curly Lambeau did with the Packers.”
“With the Dane County Football Club, we are coming out of the gates with a stock offering to help in land acquisition and a stadium construction.” Dillinder continued.
“The political environment is different than compared to the Stateline area. I am not saying it is bad, just more proverbial hurdles to jump.”
Todd continued, “I feel that the overall environment in the Madison area is more open to what Jim and I are trying to accomplish.”
“There are over 30 teams in Wisconsin and we have only one in the Madison area and I know we could provide a competitive team with the talent located in Dane County.” Foerster interjected.
Jim continued, “It is not the NFL were the guys get paid money to do what they love, but it is Minor League Football, a program for our young adult males who still have the heart and desire to play ball. They may not have been the biggest or smartest one on the team and unfortunately did not make it to the next level in college.
We are here to try and promote these men and give them the possibility of going on to the next level. A chance to shine one more time. The Players, Coaching Staff, Executive Committee, Game Day Volunteers, and the Board of Directors are not being paid a salary.
We do it for the love of the game and the chance to make the community we play for shine. We are your co workers, neighbors, and the guy across the aisle at the grocery store. We are going to be the class act of what ever league we are in.”
The DCFC, will call their Adult team the Dane County Hawks. They have yet to secure a home field at the time of this printing, but are working tirelessly to get that done.
“It is hard to approach sponsors when you do not have a place to call home.” Dillinder Said.
