GDFL Bring in the Chiefs

November 09, 2010: The Atlanta Chiefs are changing football league affiliation. After a great first season in the SFL, the Atlanta Chiefs are stepping up in competition. The Chiefs have been invited to join the nationally acclaimed Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) for the 2011 season. The Atlanta Chiefs organization has been the talk of the town in minor- professional football since entering the SFL in Nov 2009. ...They took the SFL by storm as a first year team. They were asked to play in the 2010 SFL Kick-Off Classic; they won the 2010 SFL American Division Championship and advanced to the 2010 SFL Championship game vs the Gwinnett Jets, where they lost with 4.8 seconds left in the game on a “hail-merry pass” 7-0. They went on to compiled a record of 9-1 for the 2010 season.

The move to the GDFL is a positive one for the Chiefs for the following reasons:
• Higher level of competition.
• GDFL national marketing platform.
• GDFL national, divisional, regional playoff structure and legitimacy.
• Improved "league office" management and support.
• GDFL professional referee association.
• Enhanced player championship incentives.

The move to the GDFL will also allow the Chiefs to:
• Attract additional skilled and motivated football talent.
• Represent a broader and diverse fan base.
• Increase the national exposure for their players and coaches.

Now people across the country will know about the Atlanta Chiefs brand of championship football.
