ATLANTA, Ga - The latest GDFL rankings were released late Monday evening by President Charles Thompson via Facebook the ranking reflect the games played the weeks on 7/2 and 7/9.
There was plenty of movement in the rankings as there were plenty of upsets, or for those that don't want to call them upsets, Top 25 teams that tasted defeat.
The highest team ranked, and only top 10 team , to fall were the Jefferson County (Ga) Warriors who entered their game against then-No. 16 South Georgia Noles. The Noles left the yard with a two-point win that sent the Warriors tumbling down to No. 21 and the 'Noles soaring into the top 10 at No. 10.
The 'Noles moved six spots and of those teams rising in the rankings, six spots is as high as any of them moved. The Carolina Bulldogs after their "hard knocking game" (a win) against the Asheville Grizzles to enter the top 10 at No.9. Conversely the Grizzlies were wounded and fell to No.22
The other squad that moved up six spots were the Georgia Jets. After posting three consecutive shutouts and outscoring their four opponents 176-14 this season, they will face their toughest test not only in their GDFL history but in their history period. The No. 14 Jets will travel to the No. 7 Henry County Horsemen for one of the more highly anticipated match ups this season.
