ATLANTA, GA - The official final regular season week of the GDFL is upon us and with that we have Co-Games Of The Week, rematch style.
On the line are more than just bragging rights but playoffs spots. Although there will be a rescheduling week held next week, which was also a part of the original schedule much like Week 5 (July 4th weekend)...because things happen, Week 11 games are vital in both the Xtreme and Impact Conference. Therefore each conference puts up a rematch for the Game Of The Week.
In the Impact Conference the Clarksville (TN) Eagles (5-3) will look multitask successfully in keeping their playoff hopes alive and revenge an earlier season loss to the No.23 Clarksville (TN) Wolfpack. The Wolfpack defeated the Eagles 12-6 in Week 6. Both teams have lost twice to the Central North Division leader and No.3 ranked Kentucky Wolverines, so winning the division is out but a solid spot in the playoffs is on the line. An Eagles win will throw things every-which-a-way playoff wise while a Wolfpack win could very well eliminate the Eagles.
In the Xtreme Conference we move to the Tar Heel state for a Top 20 rematch between No.12 Asheville Grizzlies and No.18 Carolina Bulldogs. This game has taken a major turn with the Bulldogs falling last week to the Carolina/Charlotte Falcons. The Grizzlies are chopping at the bit to revenge their 20-13 loss in the Week 6 Game of the Week. The Bulldogs outscored the Grizzlies 20-6 in the second half in that Week 6 meeting. The Bulldogs are looking to gain momentum heading in to the playoffs and the winner would all but sew up the Appalachian Division Crown. A playoff berth is in order for both win or lose but going in as a division champ would provide that "subtle" edge.
Other Top 25 teams in action where serious playoff implications are concerned...
No.25 Atlanta Chiefs (5-3) at No.4 Henry County Horsemen (8-0)
Virginia Vipers(5-3) vs Virginia Cougars (7-1)
Peach State Rattlers (5-4) vs No.13 Georgia Jets (6-1)
New Jersey Stags (4-3) vs Chambersburg Cardinals (7-0)
Carolina Brigade (4-4) vs No.21 Camp Lejeune Bulldogs (7-2)
