ATLANTA, GA - You knew an upset would come in Week 11 you just didn't know from where. Well you didn't have to look no further than the GDFL Game of the Week, one of them anyway. The Clarksville Eagles pulled an upset and got revenge all in one full swoop. The Eagles upended their cross-town rivals the No.23 Clarksville Wolfpack 26-13.
In the other Game of the Week the No.12 Asheville Grizzlies clinched the Appalachian Division and also were successful in their revenge in knocking of the No.18 Carolina Bulldogs. Grizzlies quarterback Mike Byrd threw two touchdowns to Tyree Allen and ran for another one. Devon Gardner, Shamless Menefee and Creon Logan also had touchdown runs. The Grizzlies defense got in the act also by recording a safety. It's been a tough couple weeks for the Bulldogs who have dropped their last two games after starting the season undefeated and being ranked as high as No.7 at one point this season.
Other Week 11 action...
The No.1 Oklahoma Thunder overcame a slow start to rally past the St. Louis Bulldogs 51-23. St. Louis jumped out to an early 14-12 lead in the first quarter by answering a Thunder touchdown drive with a drive of their own, finishing it with a touchdown pass. The Bulldogs would then intercept the Thunder on their next possession and two plays later cashed it in with another touchdown pass. From that point forward the Thunder never looked back as All Star playmaker Prentiss Elliot set the Thunder up with a long kick return and Mike Brown caught a touchdown that pulled the Thunder to within two at 14-12. Elliott then caught a touchdown on the Thunders next possession giving the Thunder the lead good going up 19-12. The Thunder would take a 38-14 lead into halftime and go on to win 51-23.
